Alfen is a listed Dutch company that has been active as a supplier of systems for the electricity grid since the mid-nineteenth century. Alfen produces transformer stations, charging stations for electric cars and energy storage systems in its own factories.
Alfen was looking for options for various applications to make logistics in and around the production line of transformer stations more efficient. It was important that no unexpected jerking movements occurred during movement and lifting.

PTB developed two electric platform trucks with a lifting capacity of 12 and 20 tons with which the transformer stations can be transported stably. The fingertip keys precisely control the speed of raising and lowering the platform.
An indicator on the dashboard shows when the platform is in the lowest or highest position. Signal lights along the sides of the machine warn the environment when the machine is in use.
The platform of the machines is equipped with a camera that is connected to the monitor installed on the dashboard. This gives the driver a good overview of what is in front of the machine. Even when large objects such as a 20-ton transformer station are on the platform.
