PTB Special Products was contacted by Deutsche Bahn to design a special transportation truck. The renowned railway company approached PTB because of PTB’s experience in constructing heavy load equipment.
The challenge
The maintenance and overhaul of train bogies is quite labor intensive due to the weight and measurements of the wheel sets. Moving them from A to B is often an issue.
The solution
A 100% custom-made electric vehicle with a special platform which can tow train bogies from rails. A combination of electric and hydraulic safety systems ensures safe and efficient transportation of these heavy objects.
